Polocrosse: King of the One Horse Sport!
In Australia, polocrosse is called the "King of the One Horse Sports" because a player can use only one horse throughout a tournament. This permits someone who may own only one or two horses to compete at the same level as someone with several. All types of horses play polocrosse: every breed, size and age. Speed, agility, and stamina are desirable, but the only requirement is that a horse be in sound physical condition. Every player should have a polocrosse racquet and ball of their own. Helmets must be worn during play. For the horses's protection, bell boots and leg wraps must be used.
Can anyone play?
Yes! Participants range in age from 4 to 84 and one of the few sports
in which men and women compete on the same field of play. It takes more
than brawn to play this sport! There are often generations of families
playing at a tournament and the sport supports players of all skill levels.
It's never too late to start playing polocrosse!

Traveling for Polocrosse?
Our players are conditioning their horses and practicing their skills. We know we'll be traveling again this year.
We can't wait to have some fun in the sun and see all our friends from across the USA!
Traveling with horses: Remember to take good care of your polocrosse partner on those long road trips. Make sure they have good forage to eat and you offer water at every stop. One helpful tip is to not feed grain just prior to or immediately after travel. Your horse will love you more if you offer a nice bran mash or beet pulp before and after the trip! This will help keep the digestive tract moving and most horses love the taste. Keep them hydrated on long trips. If your equine companion is fussy about drinking on the trailer (and many are) try adding a flavored supplement to the water like "Horse Quencher" or try adding a little apple juice, or peppermint extract to his water. It is always bect to try this at home to find your horses' favorite flavor and take it with you. For more traveling tips, visit our resources page.
