What is polocrosse ?
- Although polocrosse resembles the American Indian game of lacrosse, its origins date back hundreds of years to Persia and its sister sport of polo. In England, polocrosse was an indoor exercise to teach people how to ride a horse. The modern game took shape in Australia in the 1930's. Today, there are over 6,000 players in the world. After participating in the 2003 Polocroosse World Cup tournament, the United States has developed "exchange programs" with several other countries.

How do I join Bay Area and/or the A,erican Polocrosse Association?
- Visit our membership page, download the Bay Area membership form, fill out all sections and mail to our Treasurer. If you have questions or want to come watch a practice please contact our President, Karen Gardiner or visit our About Bay Area or Contact page for more information! Do I need special equipment?
- Well, yes, but not much! For Humans: All players MUST wear an ASTM/SEI or AS/NZ 3838 approved equestrian helmet at all times while mounted. Many polocrosse players prefer to wear the Austrailian made New Derby helmet because a face guard can be attached. However, any apporved helmet, in good condition may be worn. You wil also need a polocrosse raquet (available from Polocrosse 365) and for tournaments you will need to wear white jeans or riding pants with a club jersey.
- For Horses: To provide the best possible protection for our equine atheletes, all four legs must be protected with bell boots and polo wraps (or sports medicine boots).

I don't ride, how do I help or get involved ?
- We love helpers! We are always looking for help with fundraising, many aspects of helping host our annual tournamant and locations for practices. You don't have to ride or play polocrosse to love the sport or help us run a great club and a host a wonderful tournament!
